~*Deep in Thought*~

It didn’t take long for the three to reach the car; Hidan finally figured out how to buckle his own seatbelt while Sasori steered the car into the street and began to drive to the next destination; The Uchiha Café.
It passed about six minutes until they reached the parking lot. Sasori turned off the car, and locked the doors. “We should be here a little while… I want to go see how Deidara’s doing.” Sasori said, “Kakuzu, I’m not in the mood for any coffee, you can get whatever you want. I’m just gonna be in the ice cream store.” “No problem.” Kakuzu sighed, “I have to give Itachi the doctor’s note anyway. So Hidan, do you remember what coffee is?” Kakuzu joked. “Of course I do.” Hidan hissed, “I just never drank it….” “Uh…yeah, you drink it all the time.” Kakuzu shrugged, “You just don’t like the strong stuff.” “I don’t?” Hidan asked. “Yeah, I’ll just get you a Carmel Machiato…”

Sasori had already disappeared into the other store as Kakuzu lead Hidan into the café. “What ‘s a Carmel Machoto?” Hidan asked. “It’s ‘Machiato’…..” Kakuzu corrected, “It has carmel and coffee in it…you can also put whip cream on it… So basically it’s sweet enough to fit you.” Kakuzu described. “How’d you know I like carmel?” Hidan asked. “….You order the same thing all the time whenever we come here….not to mention you work here.” Kakuzu sighed. “Oh yeah….right…” Hidan mumbled, ‘Just stay calm Hidan…’ he thought to himself, ‘None of this makes any damn sense…..but….’ “C’mon Hidan.” Kakuzu motioned the Jashinist to follow him to the end of the long line that led to the cashier.

“Do you remember who that is?” Kakuzu asked as he pointed to the cashier. “Um….maybe?” Hidan muttered as he looked over the heads of the people who were in front of them. The cashier had short raven-black hair and onyx eyes. His facial expression appeared serious yet friendly as he took a customer’s money and placed it in the register. He reminded Hidan of Itachi which helped him guess who it was, “Is this Itachi’s little brother?” Hidan asked as the line moved a step forward. Kakuzu nodded, “Yep, that’s Sasuke Uchiha. Usually he does the coffee making in the back room, but since you were in the hospital, he had to take the job as the cashier.” Kakuzu explained. “Wait…I’m a cashier….?” Hidan asked with a disappointed face. “….Uh huh…..” Kakuzu nodded slowly. “Damn it! Why couldn’t  I be the coffee-maker-person??!!” Hidan pouted as he crossed his arms. “Again Hidan, there are little kids here. Keep your swear words in your head.” The taller of the two shrugged. “Why would the little brats be here??!! Coffee’s for grownups!!!” Hidan nearly shouted, attracting various glances from people in the line and people sitting at tables. “Just shut up.” Kakuzu frowned. “Fine! Whatever!” Hidan growled as the line took a few more steps forward.

Five minutes later, Kakuzu and Hidan had arrived to the cash register, ready to order. “Hello, my name is Uchiha Sasuke; How may I take your order…..” Sasuke said as he kept his eyes on the buttons of the small register. “Hi Sasuke.” Kakuzu greeted. “Hm? Kakuzu, how are you…? Hidan’s here too?” Sasuke asked as he looked at the pair. “Yeah, I’m fine. Hidan can’t work for a few more days though.” Kakuzu said. “Why not…? Wait, let me take a few more orders, then I’ll talk to you, alright?” Sasuke said. “That sounds good..” Kakuzu smirked, “Anyways, Hidan wants the usual….I’ll take an Espresso.” “Alright, a Carmel Machiato with whip cream and an Espresso coming up.” Sasuke said as Kakuzu handed him the money. “Thanks, we’ll wait for you here…” Kakuzu said. Sasuke nodded, “I’ll get Itachi too.” “Who’s gonna manage the register and coffee-maker-thingy?” Hidan asked, trying to play along. “Hidan…we close at six on Sundays…. Remember…?” Sasuke asked. “I’ll explain it later…..” Kakuzu said before Hidan could begin to yell.

Sasuke walked to the back room, then back out to meet Hidan and Kakuzu with their bought drinks. The two were handed their coffee as they walked to the end of the counter, then the banker led Hidan to the door, “Sasuke! We’ll be outside when it turns six, okay?” Kakuzu called back. “Where are you going?” Sasuke asked. “Just to the Ice Cream store next door….” Kakuzu replied as he walked out the door, pulling Hidan’s hand along with him.

“Why are we going there?” Hidan asked as they walked for a short distance on the side walk. “I’m telling Sasori that Itachi and Sasuke are going to meet us in about twenty minutes…..” “It’s five-forty already?” Hidan wondered. “Yeah, the day passed by pretty quick.” Kakuzu replied as he opened the door to the next shop. A small bell rang as he opened the door and entered the room, attracting Sasori’s attention who sat by the far wall. “Oi, Sasori. Sasuke and Itachi are gonna meet us when the stores close.” Kakuzu said as he walked to the redhead. “Hidan! You’re back, un!” a certain blond waved as he ran from behind the small light pink counter to hug Hidan. “Deidara?!” the zealot asked before he was suffocated with the intense pressure of being hugged. “Uh huh! You were in the hospital for so long; I got worried, un!” Deidara smiled as he let go, “So how are you feeling?” “I’ve been better…” Hidan said in a confused voice. “Deidara, you can talk to them later…” Zetsu said as he handed a small child an ice cream cone. “AW!” Deidara whined as he walked sluggishly back to the counter. Zetsu smirked, “It’s only a little while longer; you can deal with it.”
“Hey, Zetsu. Wanna meet us after the shop closes?” Sasori asked. “Sorry officer, I have to stay late again.” Zetsu smiled. Sasori chuckled, “Sucks for you.” “Sure does.” The other agreed.
“How come he didn’t have a flytrap???” Hidan wondered as he walked to the table Sasori and Kakuzu were sitting at, slurping some of his coffee. Hidan’s eyes widened as he swallowed the liquid, “Oh my Jashin!!! This is awesome!!!” he grinned as he drank some more. “A flytrap? What world are you living in? I know he has green hair and weird colors on his skin, but now a flytrap? Are you trying to make him sound like a plant weirdo or something?” Sasori laughed. Hidan frowned, “You have no idea….”  Sasori smirked grimly, “I might.”
It wasn’t until Kakuzu and Sasori started to talk about how their day went when Hidan’s mind faded away into a trance.
~*~*~
‘What is this place…….maybe everything was a dream before….Kakuzu….Akatsuki…..Immortality…. No…it can’t be. Unless it was just something I dreamt of while I was asleep in the hospital….but that Shikamaru ass buried me; I’m sure of it….maybe this is a dream….Maybe right now I’m underground sleeping….

That would explain Kakuzu being so nice to me… And Sasori still being alive-cuz I know he died from that girl and old hag…. But this place is too complex to just be a dream…..and dreams don’t usually last this long…..do they?
I think genjutsus can though……but I know the Nara freak didn’t use one…….’
~*~*~
“Hidan, are you okay?” Kakuzu asked as he waved a gentle hand in front of Hidan’s face. Hidan flinched as he snapped back to reality, “Huh….what?” Hidan mumbled. “You’re spacing out, are you alright?” Kakuzu asked. “Yeah, you were looking at nothing for fifteen minutes just now…” Sasori chuckled. “I’m okay…..” Hidan smirked, “Just thinking.” “What could you be thinking about to make you look at nothing for fifteen minutes straight?” Sasori asked, “Even your mind isn’t that complex.” “One more fucking word, and your god damn face will look like guts that splattered on a kitchen floor.” Hidan hissed. Kakuzu smiled weakly, “What were you thinking about…?” Hidan blushed as he rested his head on his hands, placing his elbows on the table, “I don’t know…… even if I told you, you would get it…” Kakuzu grimaced.

“Sasori! I’m done working now, un!” Deidara said happily as he skipped to the group. “I guess that’s our queue to go outside and wait for Sasuke and Itachi…” Sasori said as he stood from the table. Kakuzu starred at Hidan a few moments longer before nodding weakly and standing up as well, “Come on, Hidan….” The said man sighed as he followed the three outside, throwing his empty coffee cup into a trash can that was labeled ‘Thank You’ on his way.

“There you guys are…..” Sasuke greeted as Sasori, Deidara, Kakuzu, and Hidan walked to the café entrance, “So how’s Hidan doing?” “He has amnesia.” Sasori stated in a bored voice. “I DO NOT!!!!!!” Hidan shouted. “That’s just what the doctor said.” Kakuzu sighed. “The doctor?” Itachi asked as he glanced at Hidan. “Yeah, Dr.Pein….” Kakuzu smirked. “That’s the guy your apartment manager chic is married to, right?” Itachi asked. “Uh huh..” Kakuzu muttered, “Anyways, I have a note to give to you from the doctor…”. He handed Itachi the small document with a signed note written upon. Itachi scanned it over, “You know….you can still work…” he mumbled. “I can…..?” Hidan asked. “Sure you have amnesia..” “ARRRGGGHHH!!!! I DON’T!!!” Hidan shouted. Itachi continued, “But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn how to work the shop ‘again’.” “Wait…Itachi…you’re not thinking about…” Sasuke whispered. “What?” Kakuzu asked. “Madara has invited Sasuke and me to go on a short vacation with him, just for a day or two, and since Madara and Zetsu have agreed to share business; that means we would be leaving Zetsu and Deidara alone to work in the café and ice cream shop for the time being….” Itachi explained. “So what’re you trying to say?” Sasori asked. “I’m just saying that I would feel more comfortable if we had another person to help out while we’re gone.” “You want me to work in the cafe…..?” Hidan asked, “Without you…..?!” “You want Hidan to work in the café with amnesia??!!” Sasuke asked; a little panicked. Itachi nodded with hesitation. “You sure that’s a good idea, un?” Deidara asked, “Hidan just got back from the hospital?” “I know, but I can’t think of much else to do…” Itachi grumbled, “I don’t like the idea myself, but it’s only for a day or two…” “Yeah, I don’t like it either.” Sasuke hissed. “Why not?” Kakuzu asked. “Leaving Deidara, Zetsu, and Hidan alone to take care of a family business for even a day means certain destruction.” Sasuke replied grimly. “I ought slice that neck of yours right now, un.” Deidara glared. “Bring it blonde.” Sasuke smirked. “No one’s ‘bringing’ anything.” Kakuzu said firmly. Deidara glared. “Anyways…” Kakuzu began, “I have a few days off of work in order to help Hidan with his amnesia- I mean…..problem.” Hidan frowned. “…But I think I can use that time to help out in the café…” “Yeah, you could be the cashier.” Sasori joked. “Shut it.” Kakuzu hissed.

“That sounds good.” Itachi finally said, “Come by tomorrow so I can show you the basics…say around…. Ten in the morning.” “Fine by me.” Kakuzu agreed. Suddenly a loud honking noise sounded throughout the parking lot. “What the hell was that??!!” Hidan shouted as he involuntarily jumped behind Kakuzu. “That’s Kisame.” Itachi smirked. “KISAME?” Hidan blurted. By then, a long black car pulled next to the parking lot where everyone stood. “What kind of fucking car is this??!!” Hidan pointed. “It’s called a limo.” Sasori muttered bitterly. “Don’t you think that’s a bit flashy, un?” Deidara asked. “Not for Kisame….” Sasuke crossed his arms. “Hey, ‘Tachi? Sorry I’m late; this stupid moron couldn’t decide what the hell he wanted to eat back at the restaurant.” Kisame waved as he rolled down the window, sunglasses covering his eyes while strands of loose, blue hair hung over his forehead. “Yes well… try to be less late next time.” Itachi chuckled as he walked to the limo. Kisame stepped out of the long narrow car, revealing his black tuxedo. He held the door open as Itachi slid inside, then looked back to the group, “Walking again, Sasuke?” he asked. “Of course!” Sasuke glared. Kisame laughed, “Alright then. Hm? Is that you Hidan? Long time, no see…” Hidan blushed, “Kisame??!! How the hell did you manage to look like a billion-fucking-bucks?!” “Uh…maybe cuz I have a billion-fucking-bucks.” Kisame grinned, showing his sharp, white teeth. Kakuzu smiled, “Will we see you later?” “Of course! I finally got a day off! It’s difficult working seven days a week!” Kisame cooed. “What?....But there are seven days in a week….” Hidan mumbled. “It means that he works a lot, un.” Deidara smiled. “Oh…” Hidan muttered. “Hey- After you guys get your jobs done tomorrow; I’ll take you out to eat somewhere.” Kisame cocked his thumb up, “Since Itachi’s going on a vacation, I might as well catch up on what you guys have been up to!” “Sounds good to me, un!” Deidara’s eyes widened with joy. “Alright, just give me a call and I’ll send someone over.” Kisame waved as he stepped into the limo. Hidan stared in awe as the long, black car drove away.

“Stupid rich-ass.” Sasuke muttered. “Holy son of a bitch.” Hidan said. “Okay then, shall we get going?” Kakuzu suggested. “Yeah, why not?” Sasori said, “Sasuke, do you need a ride?” “Nope.” “Still riding a bike, I take it, un?” Deidara smirked. “No, I’m taking the bus.” Sasuke growled. “Why aren’t you riding a car?” Hidan asked, “Wait….what’s a bus?” Kakuzu smiled, “Don’t worry Sasuke, just one more year until you get a license.” “Years go by too slowly.” Sasuke hissed as he walked away. “Alright, let’s get going.” Sasori said as he walked into the parking lot, Deidara followed along with Kakuzu.
It wasn’t until the three walked ten yards into the lot that Deidara noticed Hidan was still standing by the café entrance. “Hey, Hidan! Come on. Un!” Kakuzu looked back, “What are you doing?”
“I have to look both ways before crossing the street, but I forgot which way I have to look first! Was it right or left?!” Hidan called back. Kakuzu laughed as he walked to the confused zealot, “It’s okay, you can come; it’s clear.” “What’s up with him, un?” Deidara asked, “He reminds me of how you were after you fell off that cliff back when we were hiking on a mountain.” Sasori grimaced. “You were in the hospital for a week after that, un. I’m surprised Hidan was only in there for a few days.” The blond said as he and the redhead watched Kakuzu lead Hidan back to the car. “Yeah…..” Sasori murmured before he opened the door to his dark blue car.

Deidara walked around the car to the passenger seat as Kakuzu and Hidan made their way into the back seats. They all buckled their seatbelts tightly over their torso and waist when Sasori turned the keys to start the automobile.

~*~*~*~
“Thanks for driving us here….” Kakuzu said as he and Hidan opened the car doors. “It’s nothing…” Sasori said. “See you tomorrow!” Deidara waved as he saw the two walk into the apartment building. Hidan waved back before Kakuzu pulled him inside. Sasori sighed as he steered the car away, back to the street.

Hidan observed the building’s detail, which seemed to be rather comfortable; it had a nice clean feeling. The color of the walls appeared to be tan with a hint of red, while the carpet held a wondrous pattern that managed to match the walls and rooms. “Kakuzu, you’re back. Hidan too….” came a beautiful voice that could only belong to one woman. “Yes, hello Konan.” Kakuzu greeted. Hidan looked to the familiar woman who stood alone at a large desk; writing and signing papers as a small lamp was placed by her side. “Are you alright, Hidan?” Konan asked politely. Hidan nodded weakly as he looked at her outfit which fit her perfect too. She wore a dark gray, long sleeved shirt; black buttons connecting each side of the shirt over her chest. Her hair was still held back with a paper rose, but it seemed to make her appearance all the more beautiful. “I guess we’ll retire for the day.” Kakuzu chuckled as he pushed Hidan through the hallway and to the elevator.

“Hidan…..really…are you alright?” Kakuzu asked as he followed the shorter of the two into the elevator. “Huh…? Yeah, I’m fine.” Hidan murmured. “No you’re not. Earlier at the ice cream shop, you said that if you told me something… I wouldn’t get it.” “Oh, that?” Hidan asked. “Yes that.”
“I was just daydreaming.”
“About what?”
“Nothing in particular.”
“It had to be something.”
“Well it wasn’t.”
“Yes it was.”
Hidan frowned, “If you really want to know, I’ll tell you , but you’ll think I’m crazy.” “Don’t I already?” Kakuzu smirked. “That’s just it, I don’t know.” Hidan said in a serious tone, “It’s weird. I’m not kidding….back in the hospital, when I said I was buried….I meant it; I really was.” Hidan explained. “When?” Kakuzu asked. “Before I woke up in the hospital.” “They buried you?!” “No-…yes…but….not them….I don’t know any more.” Hidan sighed. “Maybe if you get a good night’s rest; you’ll be able to sort it out….” Kakuzu said. “See?” “See what?” Kakuzu asked. “The Kakuzu I remember….wasn’t as polite as you are now.” Hidan said. “Oh…” the taller one mumbled.

The elevator came to a stop as the doors slid open, “I think I know why…” Kakuzu said. “What…?” “I know I’ve been a jerk to you before….it’s just when that car hit you, I freaked out.” Hidan’s eyes widened. “I panicked…..I don’t even know who hit you, Hidan…. When I managed to get you out of the car after the crash, I glanced back, and there was no one in the car….or truck…all I know is that whoever in the truck must’ve been drunk or something…otherwise what kind of idiot would run a red light at such a high speed? Hidan…..you should’ve died.” Kakuzu said, deep in thought. ‘I should’ve died…?’ Hidan repeated in his thoughts, staring at Kakuzu, “It’s just that while you were in the hospital, I had a lot of time to think…..” “But that’s just it!” Hidan nearly shouted, “You’re not Kakuzu! All of this can’t be real! Before I woke up- I was battling Konoha shinobi with you! We were on the same side, fighting like we always did!” “….what?” Kakuzu asked. “It wasn’t until Shikamaru separated me from you that I got buried and woke up! Now I have no idea what the hell is going on- I know I wasn’t buried for long. It was just that I saw rocks falling over me; blackness; and then this!” “You’re right…… you sound kind of crazy.” Kakuzu replied as he led Hidan through the hallway to their room, “I don’t understand you…..but I guess the least I can say is that I believe you.”

“You don’t understand me….but you believe me…?” Hidan wondered as he followed Kakuzu into the room. Kakuzu nodded, “Uh huh……let’s just get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow.” “What’s so big about running a coffee place?” Hidan asked. “It’s not just a coffee place, Hidan. It’s a café.” “What’s the difference?” “I dunno, but Kisame’s taking us out to eat so I’m not complaining.” Kakuzu smiled as he closed the door. Hidan smirked.
